Hi everyone. I cant believe that we are already done with 2 weeks of class. It has gone by fast and I am looking forward to the rest of the semester.
Week 1: This week was basically an introduction to the Environmental Health. Dr. V gave us an overview of what "environmental" health consisted of, she also had the class brainstorm and come up with what we thought environmental health meant. During week one the class also participated in the star wars activity. This is where we had various sized circles of rope scattered through out the class room and we had to find ways for each student to fit inside the circle. Dr. V randomly started to take away the circles and slowly but surely they began to disappear. I will admit that i was the one to break one of the circles and i apologize ha ha. It was a great activity for everyone to participate in and get to know eachother a little bit better.
Week 2: At the beginning of week two we began blogging. I have had some experience with blogs when I took computers in education, although I really had no idea how many things you were able to do with a blog. Blogging is a great way to communicate with classmates, teachers, and anyone else in the world. The best part about it is that its environmentally friendly, NO PAPER necessary=). You are able to add links, gadgets, and personalize your page which is a great way to show your personality and get to know other people.
I learned so much through blogging. Im not a technically advanced person at all so it was interesting for me to learn something new dealing with technology. I learned that even the little things we do, such as communicating online, can help the environment. By communicating through blogs it allows us to save paper, help the environment, and broaden our knowledge on technology. Although learning about blogs and creating them has been frustrating and overwhelming for me I am glad that Dr. V is giving us the opportunity to challenge ourselves and learn something new.

I took Computer in Ed last semester but we didn't get to do any work with blogging. It does seem like it will be great for communicating, but I was definitely frustrated and overwhelmed with it at first, too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with a lot of the things in your blog! The first week activity was fun, getting to know other people in the class and working as a team, and that learning how to use the blogger in general is going to be an interesting process! :)
ReplyDeleteI think we are all going to be expert bloggers when we are done with this course...who knows, it may be even more addicting than facebook...haha! I also think the first activity was an awesome start to this course. I am excited to see what the semester in Environmental Health will bring!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post. It was very personal and had a great flow. Make sure to provide a hyperlink to the source of the photos unless they are yours. No worry about breaking the circle...good thing it wasn't an actual planet or ecosystem!!
